Udupi: A workshop on Genetics was organised at the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre Hall on August 1, with Dr. Vivekanand Bhat, Associate Professor, Department of Medical Genetics, KMC Manipal, participating as the resource person.
The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Parish Priest of Pernal Church. In his inaugural address, he said that neurodevelopmental disorders such as Intellectual Disability, Autism, Developmental Delay, ADHD, and Learning Disability have multiple causes, with genetics being one of the major contributing factors.
He also interacted with the parents and clarified their doubts regarding the role of genetics in neurodevelopmental disorders.
The programme was presided over by Mr. John Martis, while Dr. Gerald Pinto welcomed the gathering.
